Ford should do what Toyota does in the newer RAV4 Hybrid, which is add 4WD to the hybrid model where the rear wheels are powered by electric motors only, allowing the use of the existing hybrid drive train while allowing some rear wheel power output.

3:15 please tell me the horizontally opposed engine doesn't mean wrong wheel drive :( welp, 3:58 that's a bit of a bummer.

Is it a true hybrid, a mild hybrid or a micro hybrid? If the AC compressor isn't electric, it isn't true hybrid because you have a belt under the hood. Micro hybrid is start stop technology using 12V battery. I assume it isn't that. I wish these reviewers were tech savy enough to tell me. He is giving the same stuff a marketing and sales guy will give you.
Detraxa Pirms 16 Stundām
Never been a big Ford fan I've always owned Dodge trucks. I don't want anything giant I've always had a single cab. I will have to get this one when it comes out, good looking little truck

i feel ford missed a mark by not offering a rc version with just a bed and front seats. fleet sales would love this for delivery trucks parts runners etc.... thats where the old rangers and s10 shined so well. you dont need a fullsize truck to run car parts around town or other deliveries. just a decent sized bed and the cheaper to own and operate the better. its like they want to make a cheap no frills truck but then they dont. im worried once the hype goes away it will be like the aztek was. it was supposed to take the place of the midsized suv and failed horribly. i guess now its all crossover suvs since then. idk seems like car makers really force people into what they want rather than giving people exactly what they want.
sickflow Pirms 11 Stundām
Weird almost like the ranger fit those needs for years
Jose Romero
Jose Romero Pirms 15 Stundām
Yup these would be good fleet vehicles if the were extended cabs with a little longer beds

I have an '03 base model S10 that's nearing the end of its life. I am NOT a new-car guy, and never have been, but this is the first time I've EVER considered it. A 4-door, sub-full truck with 40mpg and a hybrid engine and is 2-wheel FWD instead of RWD? AND it's 20k? That is like...essentially exactly the car I'd buy new. I'm a hiker and I priced out the XLT w/ Offroad and even that was like 24-25k AND AWD. Gas mileage would proably only be 36/23, though which is not so great, but considering I have a full-electric, that's ALSO not so untenable considering its usage cases. I may be looking to score a used one of these in 2025 if I can find a sub-50k for ~16k or so...

I would be the one to buy the least features i can get, they are just more shit to break down. I would also paint that ridiculous orange console

Some cool stuff there - and I REALLY like the smaller size as most light work trucks are still freaking massive. Most tradies don't need all that BS and the lower tray and deck sides, etc, are going to make them MUCH more user friendly. There are still some places they dropped the ball, though, such as the lack of door pockets for which there is room in the trim, or other pockets for those forms, paperwork, receipts, even laptops. I think FORD may be missing a trick with the lack of AWD hybrid options, though, for those times the truck is laden and/or towing and being used in unever, muddy work sites. Same thing with the double cab - extended single may be a better fit for many. Not currently in a position to need a pickup, but if I were it'd be a hybrid, AWD, extended cab version. I really don't care for auto's, but manuals seem to be unavailable in almost all modern vehicles, and don't work with hybrids, anyway.

Very Volvo like for the interior. Designed by millennials? For millennials? Also Baidu Carlife app? Is that built in? China is competing with AA and CarPlay.

@Devin Bender Really? Color me pleasantly surprised. I guess I just need to see it along side a new Tacoma to see the difference. I do hope we are seeing a return to the simple, dependable pickups of a couple decades ago! No hybrid for me though, I'd prefer a medium size 4 cylinder (without ecoboost) or a 4.0 6 would do the trick in a rig like this

I never in my life considered getting a Ford truck but this truck definitely got my attention.
Latitude Pirms dienas
Love that there's a compact truck again as my current Ranger is almost 25 years old. (That being said, still a solid running truck.) I don't know how I feel about a hybrid system knowing it'll be very expensive to repair when something breaks, but that MPG is very enticing. I just wish it wasn't a crew cab only. The extra passenger space is unnecessary for me.
Devin Bender
Devin Bender Pirms dienas
The battery and motor (hybrid components) have a 8 year 100k warranty. And the motor and transmission are VERY solid. Plenty of Fusion and escape hybrids with 200k+ trouble free miles
WiscoWorm Pirms dienas
Love it but the rear valence and rear quarter trim is awful

As with Anything New, It Will Have Problems, that All New Vehicles Have. IF Based on Bronco, it May Have the Same Reported Cooling System Problems. Problem IS Will Stealerships Add Their 'Dealer Pack' to Jack Up ALL Prices. DOUBTFUL You'll Find Any Base Models @ $20.K. Some Will Go up to $40.K
Devin Bender
Devin Bender Pirms dienas
The cooling problems from the bronco sport are from people going way to hard on them. Taking a base version off roading with out the added coolers of the offroad version. The FX4 and towing package both have the added coolers

I was so disappointed in the new Ford Ranger because it should have been just like those previous models (1996 - 1999) with 5 speed 4 cylinders, extended cab and awesomely indestructible (mine was 1997) Instead the basically did the same type of thing as Toyota

This will be massively appealing to people in the city. Or large towns. Everyone always borrows their friends truck. Because they can justify the gas and cost of buying a truck that they'll use once or twice a year. To move furniture basically. Or younger people who want a truck but can't afford the cost of a new one, gas, or even insurance
DeathMammoth Pirms 2 dienām
Good job Ford for bringing back the small truck...now it's time for Toyota to perfect it!!

I'm pretty excited for this truck. The MPG for the Hybrid is awesome.... Only downside for me, the Hybrid isn't offered with an AWD version. If it was, I'd be in line right now. That said, I'll test drive both, price them out, and make my decision after that.

BESIDES the quirks they'll have to work out , mass production for these will ultimately cause LOW QUALITY CONTROL . wait 5 yrs..then MAYBE , but then again the price will shoot to 30k . BET . THEREIN LIES THE ISSUE W ALL VEHICLES
