If Hyundai wants to debut a separate Ioniq brand with the Ioniq 5, then why does the car have Hyundai badges? Even the steering wheel has no badge. Just imagine Ford badges on a Mustang or Volvo badges on a Polestar

As for the magnet panel: it would definitely NOT be recommended to put a parking card on this area, especially if they have a functional magnet strip to let you out of the garage ;) Otherwise: it may be only metal underneath, therefore the fridge magnet would stick there no matter what. Would be interesting to see the real purpose\function to be revealed in a few months. Or maybe another commentator was right and it holds and loads an Apple device.

Why did Hyundai decide to make the rear-indicators the US style. Research has shown it's less safe, and most american car makers do it from habit, and even then there are some car manufactures who equip international style rear indicators (blinking orange) in the US market despite the normality of the blinking red brake lights. It's not as if it would cost any money to equip, it's literally just a software change. Is this just weird to me? I can't think of a good reason Hyundai would do it other than fitting with a trend that isn't exlusive and frankly less safe. With a car as unique as this it's maybe one of the best models to push for rear-indicator reform in the US.
Calum Champion
Calum Champion Pirms 4 dienām
@Darkphoton It's literally just a blinking light. And it's not like all cars in America use the american system, lots of European cars that sell there have international style indicators. It's just odd that Hyundai specifically added software to make it American style when they could have simply maintained the safer international style.

Nice car but are touchscreens jutting out of the dash allowed in the U.S? It could be a problem in the event of an accident. Is it so difficult to integrate these displays within the dashboard? No crossbar for the sunroof...what about rollover strength? I don't understand why manufacturers feel the need to do away with simple, tactile buttons and things that work. I wonder what the cost of those LED replacements would be in the event of small accident. Not to mention the energy required to safely recycle environmentally hazardous broken LED panels. I hope that the electric car evolution as a whole does not create two (or more) problems to solve one.

In Korea you can get rear view cameras to replace the mirrors. There's a screen at the corner of each window that displays the camera. The mirror housing is clear and there's a lot of "pixel" details in there. Wish I had taken pictures to share. I also thought the silver accents on the control stalks felt like aluminum and was really nice to use. Not sure it it's real metal or metalized plastic.
