Geo Metro review!!! The Geo Metro Convertible is a tiny convertible economy car with no frills and almost no power. Today I'm reviewing the Geo Metro Convertible, and I'll show you all the quirks and features of this little car. I'm also going to show you what it's like to drive the tiny Geo Metro, and I'll review the Geo Metro driving experience.

India had a saloon version Built by Maruti with Partnership with Suzuki. Had a 1.3L G13B engine and went against the 4cl lancer at the time. I should say, our version was a lot better.

I had a coach from elementary school that was 7 ft tall probably 250-300lbs just an absolute unit. This guy was soo cool and extremely nice, we use to see him driving around town in his tiny geo metro. It was soo funy to see him get in or out of it. lol!

I have a 92 non-convertible. I find it is not slow, It will go 70-75 so what else did you have in mind. Of course this guys who attitude is bizarre. The metro was never looked down on--unless by the people who want SUVs.

I remember I had a co worker that owned the geo metro and he drove me and 3 other people. So that's 5 grown guys and 2 of them was overweight. I remember as soon as he hit the gas I felt the car struggling going down the road. I asked him what size engine the car had and he said it's a 3 cylinder. My lawnmower was more powerful than the car!

Let's have a little perspective: if this car had been built in Soviet Russia, the designer would have been awarded the Order of Lenin.

There was a dude I knew in my hometown who graduated high school the same year this car came out. He bought one brand new and put an obnoxious sound system in it. The summer passed and it was time for back-to-school... In my town, the Middle School was directly across the road from the High School. On the first day of school, he drove this little car, blaring some early 90s rap, smoking Marlboro Lights...back and forth on the road between the schools for like 45 minutes until the bell rang and we all went inside. Even though I was only starting 7th grade, I thought that scene was the saddest thing I'd ever seen.

Call me a pervert, but i kinda like the looks of this thing. It has nice proportions for such a tiny fwd car and there is no obvious ugliness anywhere on the exterior or interior. Also this thing looks like it was well engineered, for what it is. It even has a trunk. A real functional trunk in a (sub?)4 meters long ultra cheap convertible car. Admirable!

I T-Boned a non convertible one in my old Honda back in the early 2000's. There was no passenger seat afterwards, luckily there was only the driver and I hit the passenger side. Death trap.

I had a 1993 Geo Metro convertable in Polynesian Green and I loved it. I bought it for $1300 with 65K miles and sold it for $1500 with over $100K. I could park it anywhere in the city and it was cheap to own and operate. I had the top down every chance i had. The pass through trunk was great, i could put 2x4's and conduit in it when i was doing some remodeling

Hey Doug, My geo metro is a base 3 door auto. I've driven it from Blaine WA down I-5 all the way into the middle of California and back. I've had fast cars, luxury cars, big trucks but still to this day the metro is the best experience I've had on 4 wheels. The simplicity of it is a beautiful thing. It's one of two Suzukis that I own. It's 1000cc i3 has about the same power as my 400cc single in my drz400. The bike weighs about 320lb and the metro about 1600lbs. Somehow I consistently get right about 50mph with both. Do you think it would be a cool, albeit pointless, experiment to swap the motors just for kicks? Seen a few geos with bike motors but never a bike with a geo motor. Thanks for all the great videos man.

I would actually probably buy this if I could because its just one of those kinda "plain jane" cars with some storage and all the normal stuff pretty much and btw I think the seats and the door panel, look like hotel carpeting

funny story: asked my mom which car would you buy; Geo Metro, AMC Pacer, Ford Aspire, or Dodge Omni. She gave me a “what the hell is your problem” kind of look and said “have you been drinking?”😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣

I wish I had seen this when it was posted. I'd love to have gotten to bid on, or bought this car. I did own a 2001 Chevy Metro with the same engine and trans as this one, and no it did not have any power but I loved the little car and it was fun to drive. I always wanted (and still want) the convertible, but just needed the extra space and seating at the time. Oh, and that gas mileage...

Please do the Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI, there has to be at least one good one somewhere in the US. I owned one in the late 90’s. One of the great hot hatches of the 80’s and 90’s in Europe. THE US missed out big time. London, UK

All the cheap Japanese cars Doug says General Motors re-badged as "Geo", cos they were too cheap to be part of the US manufactured GM model range sound pretty good to me. I'd have taken a re-badged Toyota Corolla over a compact GM any day.

Honestly, the roof operation is pretty simple and straight forward so I'll give points to Geo (Suzuki) for that I'm addition to the fuel economy. Not a bad car for the price.

Soooo, this was basically a badge-swapped Suzuki Swift? Suzuki sold these in Europe in the '90s and they were on par with the Ford Fiesta, reliability-wise. These (the 4 door hatchback version) are still on the roads in my country right now. That is quite impressive for 25 year-old cars.

I had a car dealer with a sense of humor back in the late nineties. I took in my new F150 for warranty work and provided a 2 door Metro as a courtesy vehicle. It was the automatic and bright red. I'm sure they did it to discourage warranty claims. I was not a repeat customer.

With a 5 speed manual, these things were a BLAST to drive! You could even put a turbo on them pretty easily. And to top it off, they sipped gas, so my buddies and I never gave it a second thought to take a road trip to San Diego or Albuquerque for the weekend.

It's weird to think that if Malcolm had convinced Malaysia's Proton Holdings to sell its sedans in America it would have been received a better outcome ...fyi Proton had already made a few LHD Proton Sagas that instead of a 1.5L engine the US spec car had a 1.8L engine ah lost opportunity..

More pathetic is the fact that today car manufacturers create less convertible cars because they sell more stupid SUV's. I would rather drive this "pathetic" suzuki swift (geo metro)convertible in stead of a Volkswagen T-Roc Convertible (it looks like a stupid "kubelwagen").

Not really seeing the "pathetic" here. Sure it's got a weak engine and it's a relatively tiny car, but honestly it's nice looking and it's a convertible. Even in a cool color. The tone is a touch snide. And since when is an actual key something worth making fun of? Cars had keys up to five minutes ago.

An fun in the mud just about cant het stuck an if u do & have a passenger just pickup the front end an move it. An it will reach 90mph eventually
